More Than Your Time was founded by Nicola Bird. Having spent the majority of her career working in large organisations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and the NHS, Nicola decided to retrain as a coach in 2006 after having her second child in order to gain the flexibility and personal fulfillment from working for herself.

I really enjoyed working in large organisations with the ‘buzz’ that you get there, but after having my second child I realised that I wanted more control over the hours I wanted to work and a career that worked around my family rather than vice versa. I decided to train as a coach with Noble Manhattan.”

“I came across online coaching in early 2007 and immediately fell in love with the concept. I could really see how this would benefit my clients, many of whom were juggling small children with running their own businesses and just didn’t have the available time to sit down for a regular meeting with their business coach. My clients were mainly one-man/one-woman bands and wanted the connection and ongoing support that weekly coaching could provide, but couldn’t afford to pay £400-£500 a month to get this.”
“Early in 2008 I wrote and designed FingerTips, designed originally as an interactive coaching programme for small business owners and in October of 2008 I emigrated from London to Wellington, New Zealand and took all my clients with me (earning pounds is a big plus I can tell you) and who knows if we’ll stay or go elsewhere – my business is totally transportable now.”
“When I started to build my own passive income streams through tele-seminars I realised there was great scope for delivering more value to my clients by giving them a place to answer the questions I wanted to ask them to follow up on the call. For example, following on from my tele-class on blogging I wanted to ask listeners some quesitons to make sure they took action from the call: ‘How could you use blogging in your particular business?’ ‘What topics could you be writing about?’, ‘How do you know that is what your clients want to know about?’, ‘What steps are you going to commit to to get your blog up and running?’, ‘And by when?’ etc etc. And then checking they’d actually answered the questions (what do most clients love about coaching if it’s not the accountability aspect!) and giving them a few more personal hints and tips as to how to improve their strategy and cheer them along the journey. I also began to see how the tool could be applied to e-books and to develop homestudy courses too.”
“So I took FingerTips and turned it into JigsawBox, a tool that enables any coach or consultant to turn their products into something more interactive, to showcase their expertise and deliver more value to their clients. We’re in the beta-testing phase and looking for coaches who want to be at the cutting edge to try it out in return for their feedback. Will you join me?”
